Student Security
Student Security is important at HGCS. Therefore, carline tags should be displayed in vehicles for student pick-up in the afternoon. This applies to Main Campus carline, or North Campus bus carline pick-up. If you need additional carline tags, please contact the Elementary Office. Additional carline tags are available for parent pick-up.

Spirit Week
September 25-29 is Spirit Week at HGCS. Each day will be observed by students in a unique way. We encourage all students to show their HGCS Lion Pride.

Students should avoid the following: tightly fitting garments and garments with inappropriate language on them.

The week will conclude with a pep rally at 2pm in the gym as we prepare for the Home Coming Varsity Football game Friday night at 7pm.

Snakes Alive
September 29, Ron Cromer, a specialist in herpetology, will be here to share with elementary students.  He will share an educational Power Point, allow students to view non-venomous snakes and reptiles tamed for petting.  The event will conclude with the voluntary opportunity for students to touch the reptiles.  Parents who do not want their student to participate, should email their teacher.

Summer Box Tops
With Spirit Week in full swing, let’s continue our school pride by turning in your summer Box Top collections.  As a reminder, at the beginning of summer we asked you to save your Box Tops.  We will award Chick-fil-A prizes to the Elementary, Middle and High school students that collects the most Box Tops.  Please submit labels in a ziploc bag with your child’s name, grade, and homeroom teacher.  It would be helpful if you could put them in bags of 50 Box tops.  The Box Tops are due by Friday, September 29th.

Summer Reading Reward Breakfast
On Thursday, October 5, we will celebrate another successful Summer of reading.  Each individual class met their reading goal, and has earned breakfast from Chick-fil-A (a Chicken Biscuit).  You may see the CFA cow “moooving” around campus that morning delivering the delicious rewards. During the week, the coupons earned by individual students will distributed by their teacher.  We are grateful for the continued sponsorship of the Summer Reading program by Chick-fil-A, Albemarle Rd.

Spirit Night – Pelican’s Snowballs
Join your HGCS family at Pelican’s Snowballs, 8009 Fairview Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227 on Thursday, October 5th from 1pm – 8pm for Spirit Night.  Menu options begin with $2 Kiddie cup, to $5 Avalanche. There’s even a “Pup Cup”, for dog’s only of course. HGCS receives a portions of all proceeds for the evening’s purchases.

Student Absences
If your student is absent for any reason, please email the teacher and the Elementary Office, NancyMcDowell@HGChristian.org.  Remember to follow the CDC Guidelines when you student is not feeling well.  Students should be free of the following for 24 hours before returning to school: fever of 100 degrees or more, vomiting or diarrhea.  For attendance records to be accurate, please email the Elementary Office each day your student is not in class.

Moved? New phone number? New email address? Email any changes to nancymcdowell@hgchristian.org.  It’s important your information is current for your student.
