Re-enrollment for Current HGCS Parents, 

The 2018-2019 Re-enrollment instructions for current students will be added to the Renweb announcement page on November 1 and will run through January 31, 2018.  If you have any questions, regarding re-enrollment, please contact the admissions office at 704-531-3589.

Cafeteria Closed

December 12 & 14 the cafeteria will be closed.  Send a bagged lunch including drink, all utensils, napkins, etc with your student.  Students will be eating in classrooms, and will not have access to microwaves. 

Athletic Wear Wednesday

Elementary students may wear Athletic Wear for $1 on Wednesday, December 13.  To do so, pay $1 as you enter the building from front or back carline, and receive a stamp on your hand.  Proceeds support the Fine Arts/Yearbook.

Yearbook Personalization

December 15th, is the deadline to return forms for yearbook personalization.  We will not be accepting personalization orders in the new year.

DR Trip Donation Requests

Dominican Trip Donation Requests
Our Senior Class is headed to the Dominican for our annual Mission Trip. The dates of the trip are January 8-12, 2018. This trip would not be possible without the donations from our Hickory Grove families. Below is a list of items we are asking for students to donate. Collection dates will be after Christmas, but while you are doing your Christmas shopping, here are a few things you could pick up for the Dominican people.
Monetary donations are also being taken to purchase food bags once the students arrive in the Dominican. Students assemble and distribute the food bags to families in the villages and communities while they are there ministering to the local people. A small gift of $15.00 will feed a family of four for one month.

If you have donations you would like to drop off prior to the collection dates listed,
please bring items to the High School Office. There will be yellow bins through the school to drop your items off. Thank you!



Report Cards – 2nd Qtr

Report cards for 2nd quarter will be available to view/print beginning Thursday, January 4th through RenWeb.  They will remain open until Friday, January 19.  If you need to print a copy of your child’s report card, please make sure you do so by Friday, January 19.  This option will be closed by the end of the day on 1/19/18.

Student Security

Student Security is important at HGCS.  Therefore, carline tags should be displayed in vehicles for student pick-up in the afternoon.  This applies to Main Campus carline, or North Campus bus carline pick-up.  If you need additional carline tags, please contact the Elementary Office.  Additional carline tags are available for parent pick-up.

Student Absences

If your student is absent for any reason, please email the teacher and the Elementary Office, NancyMcDowell@HGChristian.org.  Remember to follow the CDC Guidelines when your student is not feeling well.  Students should be free of the following for 24 hours before returning to school: fever of 100 degrees or more, vomiting or diarrhea.  For attendance records to be accurate, please email the Elementary Office each day your student is not in class.

Change Wars
Each year we have a competition in our classrooms to collect change for a worthy cause.  This year, we are supporting Megan Wisehart who will be participating in an 11-month journey called Worldrace that begins in January.  She will be traveling to the many “hard places” to share the love of Christ.  The change we collect will be given to support her journey.  Her last day with us is Dec 15.  Begin praying for her now as she prepares mentally, physically, financially, and spiritually for the journey ahead.

Specials Teachers and Supply Helpers Appreciation Day – November 17th
We are thankful for our children’s well rounded education through the Specials Classes that are offered each week.  We are also thankful for those staff members that purchase and print the supplies they use each day.  Please plan to say a special thank you to them on Friday, November 17th by sending in notes of encouragement, seasonal gifts, and special treats.  Your Room Mom will notify you of your grade assigned Specials Teachers and then please find your grade’s Supply Helpers on the list below to recognize as well.

Adoption and the Gospel
In response to the Adoption and the Gospel event on October 1st with Dr. Russell Moore and Hickory Grove Baptist Church, HGCS seeks to support families and children in need when it comes to adoption and foster care. Please take a moment watch this short video from Elizabeth and Adam Hamilton about how we can support foster care children in our area.
We are asking for everyone to bring in gently used or new duffel bags to be given to different foster care agencies. If students would like to add basic items such as hygiene items, fleece blankets, pjs, socks, diapers, and wipes, books, toys, or other children items to be placed in the bags, that would be an added bonus. Students can give the items to their homeroom teacher to be collected. No "boxy" suitcases please.
Please be in prayer for the 11,000+ children in North Carolina who are currently in foster care.
