It's been said that April showers
bring May flowers. Well at HGCS, April readers bring May achievers! Elementary
families, we want to see pictures of your children reading, whether it's at
home, in the car, in a restaurant, at the ball field, etc. We know our students
can read in some of the most creative ways and places! Post them on our
facebook page, tag us on instagram or tweet us at HGCSchool! Thank you to Mrs.
Moldenhauer for this picture of your kindergarten students! #HGCSreaders

Terra Nova Testing
Monday, May 15th through Friday, May 19th,
students in grades K5-5, will be participating in the TerraNova 3 Achievement Test.
Students will test in the morning and have abbreviated classes after
lunch. It is critical that students
arrive to school on time. Students arriving after the testing has started will
not be able to enter the classroom until either a break is given or testing is
over for the day.
The purpose of this assessment is to determine your student's level of
achievement in areas such as reading, language, vocabulary, mathematics,
science, social studies, and Bible.
Since achievement testing is a critical component of our school's
instructional program, TerraNova 3
and the complete assessment program will provide valuable information to you
and to your student's teacher about his/her academic progress. It also becomes a teaching resource for our
faculty, allowing us to collect student data that, in turn, helps us make wise
decisions in meeting the learning needs of your student.
You can assist your student
by encouraging adequate sleep the night before and a good breakfast prior to
school. Please remind your student to
give the test their best effort.
Information will be mailed to you this summer explaining how to access
your student’s scores as they become available.
Thank you for your assistance in making this a positive experience for
your student. If you have any questions,
please contact the elementary school office at 704-531-4195.
