Please be sure you are receiving school emails via FACTS SIS (please check to see if any have gone to your junk/spam folder). Important announcements and events will be sent via FACTS SIS (formerly Renweb), especially from the school nurse.





All students are welcome to participate in the Morning Mile from 7:00 - 7:30 am in Gym C.  No minimum number of laps and students can join anytime.  There is no charge to participate.


Our summer collection drive for Box Tops has ended.  Unfortunately, we did not get much participation.
We will continue to collect Box Tops For Education throughout the school year.  Our next collection date will be on January 22nd.
There are two ways to collect box tops either by clipping them off the package or scanning your receipt into the Box Tops app.

The following students turned in box tops and will receive a free Chick-fil-a sandwich.

Week of September 2, 2019


Half-Day Dismissal
Beginning on September 11th, students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon one Wednesday each month. Students may attend Adventure Day even if they are not registered for After School/Adventure Days.  You must complete all the appropriate paperwork before Friday, September 6. The cost of the half-day is $40.  

All students should be picked up in the carline or have Adventure Day reservations. The bus will leave for the Mallard Creek Campus after the 12:00 dismissal.

Lunch will be served at the regular lunchtimes for Elementary and Middle School students.



Feed the Need Fall Fundraiser
Join us on September 19th at 6:30 pm in the Event Center for the Kick-off Parent Night of Feed the Need.  Parents of students who attend will receive an incentive reward for their attendance.  We look forward to a great Fund Raising event. You are the key to the success of the program.

Open Enrollment
The 2018-2019 enrollment instructions for current students is available on RenWeb.

If you have any questions, regarding re-enrollment, please contact the admissions office at 704-531-3589. Enrollment for HG Church members and non-members is now open. On March 1, the Re-enrollment fee increases to $600.

My Energy Kit
Your student recently attended a presentation of Kilowatt Kitchen, presented by The National Theatre for Children sponsored by Duke Energy.  A booklet was sent home with each student with instructions for ordering a FREE Energy Kit.  The school will benefit financially if sufficient orders are placed.  Take a few minutes to login to My EnergyKit.org and request your kit today. 

March 16 – Appreciation Day for School Support Staff
Appreciation Day for School Support Staff - Our Elementary PTF would like to recognize those who are behind the scenes keeping our school going on a daily basis. Please help by sending in a cash donation during the week of March 12-16 for our Cafeteria, Library, Housekeeping, and Main School Office ladies. Gift Cards will be purchased with your donations and given to these 28 individuals as our way of saying ‘Thank You’..

Spring Musical/Art Fair
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Elementary Spring Musical and Art Fair is rescheduled to Tuesday, March 27. The new date will be announced when available. Students should be in their home rooms at 6pm. Art will be displayed in Rooms 1111/1112 & 1113/1114, located off the Welcome Center. The Musical begins at 6:30pm in the Worship Center.

Student Security
Student Security is important at HGCS. Therefore, carline tags should be displayed in vehicles for student pick-up in the afternoon. This applies to Main Campus carline, or North Campus bus carline pick-up. If you need additional carline tags, please contact the Elementary Office. Additional carline tags are available for parent pick-up.

Student Absences

If your student is absent for any reason, please email the teacher and the Elementary Office, nancymcdowell@hgchristian.org. Remember to follow the CDC Guidelines when your student is not feeling well. Students should be free of the following for 24 hours before returning to school: fever of 100 degrees or more, vomiting or diarrhea. For attendance records to be accurate, please email the Elementary Office each day your student is not in class.

Re-enrollment for Current HGCS Parents

DR Trip Donation Requests

Dominican Trip Donation Requests
Our Senior Class is headed to the Dominican for our annual Mission Trip. The dates of the trip are January 8-12, 2018. This trip would not be possible without the donations from our Hickory Grove families. Below is a list of items we are asking for students to donate. Collection dates will be after Christmas, but while you are doing your Christmas shopping, here are a few things you could pick up for the Dominican people.
Monetary donations are also being taken to purchase food bags once the students arrive in the Dominican. Students assemble and distribute the food bags to families in the villages and communities while they are there ministering to the local people. A small gift of $15.00 will feed a family of four for one month.

If you have donations you would like to drop off prior to the collection dates listed,
please bring items to the High School Office. There will be yellow bins through the school to drop your items off. Thank you!



Report Cards – 2nd Qtr

Report cards for 2nd quarter will be available to view/print beginning Thursday, January 4th through RenWeb.  They will remain open until Friday, January 19.  If you need to print a copy of your child’s report card, please make sure you do so by Friday, January 19.  This option will be closed by the end of the day on 1/19/18.

Student Security

Staff Appreciation Day – Friday, November 18th
We are thankful that our school keeps our kids well rounded by offering them arts programming and foreign languages.
This month we will honor our SPECIALS TEACHERS – your Room Mom will notify you which staff members your grade has been assigned.  Please show your appreciation by sending them small seasonal gifts, sweet treats, notes, or colored pictures on Friday, November 18th.

Hickory Grove Baptist Youth Basketball & Cheer
Practices begin in December
Youth basketball is open to boys and girls age 5-16, and cheerleading is open to girls ages 5-10.  Cost is $75 before October 31, $85 after.  Register online at HickoryGrove.org starting October 15.

4th Grade Field Trip to Old Salem

Elementary Thanksgiving Banquet
Our 20th Annual Thanksgiving Banquet for HGCS Elementary will be held on Tuesday, November 22.  The banquet takes the places of daily lunch for all elementary students.  Students and 2 guests are invited to register to attend.  The deadline to register is Sunday, November 13. Summer Reading Reward Breakfast
On Friday, October 7, the Chick-Fil-A cow will be here to deliver breakfast to our Elementary students as a reward for meeting Summer Reading Goals.  The breakfast is a chicken biscuit.  If your student has dietary restrictions, please plan according.   Many students received additional rewards received in the classroom. We appreciate the Chick-fil-A on Albemarle Rd for sponsoring our Summer Reading Program.
